marneyMarney Howard, M.Sc. Registered Psychologist

Marney Howard is a Registered Psychologist and the owner of Howard & Associates, she has over 20 years of experience in the human services field, involved in operating numerous groups for individuals suffering from anxiety, panic, and depression. Marney's works with a number of concerns but some of her specialties are with marriage, family therapy, trauma with children and adults, and addictions providing EMDR when acceptable. 

Her therapeutic approach is to provide support with a more directive approach. She uses techniques such as compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths, and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing. She has also worked extensively with many diverse populations such as Aboriginal people, and many other ethnicities.

In addition, she's involved in assessment, and report writing, facilitates assessing, and writing reports for Emotional Support Animals. She works also with many individuals and families that are seeking Christian counseling.

Penny is an Animal Assisted Therapy dog. Penny is available to work in session with Marney upon request. The goal of AAT is to improve a patient's social, emotional, or cognitive functioning. Advocates state that animals can be useful for educational, and motivational effectiveness for participants.

Masimba Uzande MSW, RSW, NMT Trained

Simba is a mental health clinician with experience supporting children, youth, and adults from diverse backgrounds including First Nation communities. He brings with him a wealth of international experience in the field of trauma-informed mental health interventions with different cultures. He has worked and trained in various parts of the world including the United Kingdom, Southern Africa, and Canada

Simba has training in Neurosequential Model in Therapeutics, which is widely recognized as an evidence-based approach to assessment, and intervention for people who have endured adverse childhood experiences or trauma. Trauma-informed principals that acknowledge the power of relationships in shaping human experiences underpin Simba’s approach to therapy. He believes in the remarkable capacity of the human brain to adapt and find more meaningful, and positive ways to reorganize negative experiences. He does this within the context of a safe, and relational mediated therapeutic environment that is attentive, and attuned to the needs of the individual.

He uses a client-centered approach drawing from a variety of theoretical orientations, and modalities that are tailored to the needs of the individual such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Attachment Theory, Feminist Theory Therapy, Mindfulness, EMDR and Therapeutic Play with children.

Christie Satie, M.C. Registered Provisional Psychologist

Christie's approach is fairly eclectic and she tends to use the modality that best suits her clients needs while operating from an attachment-based lens. She often utilize solution focused therapy, attachment based therapies, cognitive behavioral therapy, emotion focused therapy and EMDR but also has training in dyadic developmental psychotherapy. She has experience facilitating groups in parenting, separation,, and communication in separation, and am able to support families through therapy, and education. With years of experience helping children heal through play, and art based interventions as well as coping skills, and behavioral management techniques.

Christie background is working with families, Children, and Family Services. her passion lies with children, youth, and families, and supporting them in various challenges including trauma, abuse, neglect, attachment issues, and other mental health issues, as well as family-related issues, divorce or separation, and grief, and loss.

Christie believes that healing comes from within the individual, and is honored to be part of the journey with those she work with. The therapeutic relationship is her first priority while encouraging clients to direct their journey in therapy.

Brent Spradbrow, M.C. Registered Provisional Psychologist

Brent is a Registered Provisional Psychologist. His passion is supporting  adolescents and adults through life's many obstacles, such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, life transitions, relationship issues, self-esteem and job/academic performance issues. He works with Clients to identify their strengths, and resources so they can use them to manage problems, and find solutions so that each client can discover, and reach their preferred outcome. He works with clients collaboratively, which means we both bring unique skills to the counselling session, and work together towards the client's preferred outcome.

Brent has a direct, and supportive style which allows for optimum use of the client's time. With demeanor is genuine, empathetic, empowering, non-judgmental,, and at times gregarious. He has extensive experience working with post-secondary students, and have a unique insight into the many challenges, and issues these clients face.

Brent is about building rapport, and a trusting supportive relationship, he believes this helps the clients feel comfortable, and ready to share their story early in the therapeutic process. He uses therapeutic approaches such as CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, EMDR and has additional training in supporting induvial and families struggling with ADHD and ASD.

Dr. Wendy Yasinski, Doctor of Marital, and Family Therapy, Registered Provisional Psychologist

Dr. Yasinski has a Doctorate in Marital, and Family Therapy, and has extensive experience working with children, youth,, and adults on a variety of issues. She brings a wealth of experience using various modalities of therapy: brief solution-focused therapy (BSFT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR),, and various other systemic modalities (i.e., Structural Family Therapy).  Wendy is a Christian counselor who can incorporate spiritual principles into mental health treatment if requested.

She provides treatment on issues that include self-esteem, anger management, self-awareness, parenting, anxiety, depression, stress, anxiety, anger management, family therapy, trauma, addictions, pain management, psychosis,, and various other areas for men, women, youth, children, couples, families.

Michelle McKenzie M.A. Registered Provisional Psychologist

Michelle McKenzie has a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Prior to transitioning into private practice, Michelle has over 15 years of experience supporting vulnerable Albertans diagnosed with intellectual delays, and mental health disorders to find community housing, and social assistance. Michelle has worked with individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down’s Syndrome, intellectual delay,, and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. She has worked with individuals with addiction issues, health limitations, justice involvement,, and those experiencing homelessness She has knowledge of government social programs like Assured Income for the Severely , handicapped (AISH), Income Support, & Persons with Developmental Disabilities,, and community agencies that support vulnerable individuals.

Michelle’s experiences have provided opportunities to work with Albertans from various, cultural, religious,, and ethnic backgrounds. She has experience working with individuals, couples,, and families experiencing issues associated with work issues, relationship/family issues, addiction, depression, anxiety, domestic violence, trauma, and individuals with intellectual disabilities. Michelle is an advocate for supporting mental health for people of colour. Her areas of interest include how systemic racism impact mental health for Black women, and people of colour, and developing anti-racist activism in the workplace.

Michelle has developed the Edmonton Sister Circle , a free 6-week support group specifically for Black women that focuses on how racism impacts mental health. An Introduction to Racism in the Workplace: Getting comfortable being uncomfortable , a 2-day workshop for companies that want to learn about the subtle, and not so subtle ways racism impacts the workplace. Michelle utilizes person centered, and solution focused approach counselling techniques with a holistic approach to supporting client needs.

Kristen Paliwoda, M.A. Registered Provisional Psychologist 

I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. My approach with clients is tailored to best suit their individual needs. I often use solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, positive psychology, and mindfulness-based strategies.

I utilize a client centered focus which prioritizes creating a comfortable, supportive, and safe atmosphere. My mission is to collaborate with clients to help improve their overall wellbeing and to support the personal growth they are striving for.

When faced with life’s adversities, I understand that it can be difficult to cope. I strive to provide a non-judgemental, compassionate, and empathetic ear while offering strategies to help you overcome challenging situations.
